Knoll Classics Sale – Platner Easy Chair + Ottoman
Anybody familiar with the Platner collection from Knoll can probably appreciate the way Warren Platner made comfortable, sculptural and beautiful furniture from something as simple as bent wire. Reintroduced in August 2012, the Platner Easy Chair + Ottoman follow this same design aesthetic at a much larger scale.
From Knoll:
“Since the mid-sixties, Warren Platner’s collection of seating and tables using nickel-plated bent wire as a structural and decorative element has captivated furniture enthusiasts. While many Platner Collection pieces have been in continuous production, the Easy Chair and Ottoman were produced between 1966 and 1988.
The hand manufactured Easy Chair, a popular sculptural icon paring geometry and color, is the epitome of curvy comfort; it is available with or without the Ottoman, which can also be used independently.”

Knoll Classics: Platner
Ready, Set, Go!
Today’s the official start of the Knoll Classics Sale and to kick it off here’s some info on one of the featured designers: Warren Platner
“Warren Platner studied architecture at Cornell University. Following his work with legendary designers Raymond Loewy, Eero Saarinen and I. M. Pei, he immersed himself in the creation of steel wire furniture, devising the method and tooling to produce the lounge chair in the line as well. Notable among his residential and commercial projects are the Georg Jensen Design Center and the Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Center, both in New York City” (via Knoll)
Some of Platner’s designs that are included in the sale are the Platner Lounge Chair, the Platner Stool and the Platner Dining Table.
Visually iconic, Platner really knew how to make his steel wire pieces beautiful!

Fashionable Additions to Knoll Luxe
Dorothy Cosonas, KnollTextiles and Knoll Luxe creative director, recently designed 3 new fabrics for the Knoll Luxe 2011 collection that were inspired by current fashion trends: Arabella, Grammercy, and Vermeer. Arabella and Gramercy are both large-scale velvet upholstery fabrics while Vermeer is more like a classic Knoll knubby-textured fabric.
The colors are great, and as upholstery fabrics they’re a fabulous way to bring the fashion industry into your home and onto your Knoll pieces.
