What do you want your space to say? The ability to express your personality in your home is very important when designing your space. It is also important that your workspace accurately reflect who you are, as many of us spend a lot of time there. If your personal environment does not serve as an extension of your personality, then that space won’t work for you. Are there areas of your home where you feel uncomfortable or even bored? Could someone take over your workspace and not have to change a thing?

Here are some tips on how to express yourself in your space:

Think of a favorite area in your home or workspace – past or present. Does the decor reflect your interests, your tastes? It probably does. Determine what elements of that space make it feel uniquely your own and bring those same concepts to other spaces.
Try adding painting, photographs, displays of objects from trips you’ve been on. These kinds of pieces will give your space an identity.
