Sit the bench…

plank dining table

If you’re tired of the same old approach to decorating your eat-in space, try replacing a few chairs with a bench.  This option is especially ideal for a dining area that’s high on style but low on space.  A bench can be fully concealed under a dining table to maximize floor space in high traffic areas.  If you’re not squeezing by your dining chairs, and you’re just looking for something unique, using bench seating is still a great option.

Above, Vastu interior designer Eric Kole proposes that a client go with a bench at their dining table to help with the flow of traffic from the client’s kitchen to their living room.

So, do you like the look?

What are the “rules” regarding area rug size?  Does the furniture have to be on the rug completely? Just the front legs of the sofa or chair?  I have selected the sofa and chairs for the living area of the living/dining room in my condo and I’m trying to figure out what size rug I need.

Thanks!

Hello,

Months (and months) ago I accepted a 40″ square piece of glass, thinking I’d make myself a dining table for a small office space.  Well, I have done nothing with the glass.  My DIY aspirations died when I realized I didn’t really know what I was doing or what I should use as a base.  Do you have any suggestions on what materials I should use?  Or where I should go for materials?

Thanks!

Painting a space can be subtle or impactful, can add warmth or coolness, and can even make spaces look larger or smaller. But, choosing paint colors should always be done last when planning your interior design. Continue Reading…
