Let’s start the day with some great images of contemporary outdoor spaces.

With the weather warming up it’s time to start thinking about heading outdoors. Give your outdoor space an updated look with pieces from Emu’s new Cantilever collection. Designers of this collection, Alessandro Andreucci and Christian Hoisl, combined Emu’s manufacturing tradition with the company’s tradition of experimenting with design. The collaboration resulted in the Cantilever armchair, low armchair, chaise and dining table.

Born in Spain in 1961, Patricia Urquiola has become very well known over the years for her amazing designs.  Urquiola graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Madrid in 1989. Between 1990 and 1992, Patricia was an assistant lecturer at the Politecnico di Milano university and at the E.N.S.C.I. in Paris. From 1990 to 1996, she worked for the new product development office of De Padova and with Vico Magistretti.

From 1993 to 1996 Urquiola had an associate practice with two architects and was engaged in architectural design, showrooms, restaurants and franchising. In 1996 she became head of the Lissoni Associati design group, working for Alessi, Antares-Flos, Artelano, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Kartell, and others. On her own, Patricia designed for B&B Italia, Bosa, De Vecchi, Fasem, Liv’it, MDF Italia, Molteni & C., Moroso and Tronconi and designed stands and showrooms for Knoll. She has contributed to Emu, releasing the Re-trouve collection which includes tables and seating.  She is currently conducting her professional activity in her own studio in Milan in the field of design, exhibitions, art direction, and architecture.
