The sleeper sofa, love em or hate em they’re most definitely useful as they can make any space multi-functional. However, people don’t always find them to be comfortable or all that stylish, something that can be discerned by reading the comments section of a recent Apartment Therapy post on the same subject.

Frankie Sectional

A little known fact is that a majority of the custom hand-made sofas we carry can be made as sleepers. All it requires is that you choose a frame that has loose seat cushions (so that you’re able to remove them) and that you pick a size that meets the minimum size requirements (66″ W for a full and 78″ W for a queen, in most cases). And if you’re worried about being able to see the sleeper component at the bottom of the sofa when it’s not in use, then don’t! We increase the size of the lower portion of the sofa (the apron) to conceal everything.

BAM! Now it's a Frankie Sleeper Sectional

The sleeper component consists of a 4″ innerspring mattress and a 4″ inflatable air mattress. That gives you 8 inches of mattress that prevents you from feeling a crossbar making it comfortable to sleep on.

Co-owner Eric Kole actually has a Metro Sleeper Sofa in his own home that’s used by friends and family when visiting.

Disguised in this beautiful den is actually a guest room waiting to be used...

The best part of being able to custom make sofas is that we have full control over the design of our furniture. If you want a sectional sofa with a sleeper inside, in a grey fabric with wood legs and tufting on the back…it’s totally doable. Just for you.

Back when we learned that Herman Miller was not only going to be tweaking the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman to more closely reflect the original design, but to also offer it in a White Ash finish…we knew we had to get one for the showroom floor! After what seems like forever, it was delivered this morning.

And it is AWESOME! Take a look below!

With its white ash veneer shell and it’s MCL leather in Pearl, this chair not only exudes luxury but is amazing to sit on. With a permanent tilt in the seat, it takes weight off your lower spine, making you feel more relaxed.

To this day, the Eames Lounge Chair is still assembled by hand using 7-ply wood veneer shells.

This pair of ottomans come straight from California and are constructed with the same quality and attention to detail that Steven bestows upon the great sofas, sectionals and chairs we carry.

These fun, and comfortable, pieces are 15″ high and come in three sizes: 16″, 18″ and 22″ diameter (ours are 22″). Made from premium-grade alder hardwood, the frame is constructed using a dowel and screw method. The foam seat and padding make the Drum Ottoman a great choice to prop your feet up on or to use as additional seating in a room.

A common design challenge we encounter is customers needing more storage space. Here are a few ways to add additional storage to your space…

1. Rolling cabinets or low benches can add extra storage in a room. One of our favorite things to do is nestle storage cubes under a console table and adding casters would certainly make it easy to move the pieces around.

2. Wall-mounted shelves or inset wall niches can add visual interest as well as storage. Don’t be afraid to arrange wall-mounted shelves and cabinetry asymmetrically for a modern, dynamic look.

3. Open shelves add dimension and interest in any room, but we all have things we prefer NOT to display. You may want some doors and/or drawers to stash away those items. Something like the stacking Malta shelf and cabinet would be a great solution for open shelving with some closed storage.
