EcoSmart Fire Spring Savings Event

April 1, 2013 · Posted in Eco-friendly design ideas, Great gift ideas, Vastu News · Comment

Winter is still holding on in some parts of the area and it hasn’t felt very Spring-like since the season started a couple of weeks ago, but that’s no reason why we can’t start thinking of the great outdoors! One vendor leading the charge is EcoSmart Fire, Vastu’s provider of ethanol fireplaces.

To promote their new line of MIX Fire Bowls, we’re offering you special pricing on these two styles when you spend over $1,490 through the end of April.

Buy any other style of fireplace, and spend over the designated amount, and you’ll be able to add a MIX Fire Bowl for just $249 or $149 (for the MIX 850 or MIX 600, respectively). That’s more than 75% off!

Not familiar with EcoSmart Fire’s line of indoor and outdoor ethanol fireplaces? Give us a call or stop by the showroom and ask any of our designers for more information!

Recognized for its rigorous and holistic commitment to design, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam textiles are included in the permanent collections of numerous museums, including the Stedelijk, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Modern Art.”

Using famous fabric designs, Maharam has created this classic memory game that’s sure to both delight design enthusiasts and inspire budding creatives. The game features 36 classic designs on 72 tiles of heavy card stock which are printed in Germany. Each set comes in a storage box and is $36.

The Herman Miller Select 2012!

October 8, 2012 · Posted in Great gift ideas, Herman Miller, Vastu News · Comment

Once a year, Herman Miller gives you the chance to own a special, limited edition piece inspired by their extensive design history.

“Unlike some collectibles, our Select releases are meant to be enjoyed. Each is as fun to use as it is to look at. Each is original and authentic. A short production run means quantities sell out fast.”

Last year, the Herman Miller Select piece was the Nelson Tray and Nelson Tray Table.

Herman Miller Select 2011 - Nelson Tray Table

For 2012, Herman Miller has chosen the Eames Wire Base Low Table and reinterpreted it to honor the contributions of Ray Eames on the 100-year anniversary of her birth.

Herman Miller Select 2012 - Eames Wire Base Low Table

Available in three of Ray’s favorite colors (cobalt blue, yellow-gold and red-orange) the Select Eames Wire Base Low Table is extremely stylish while staying practical and immensely versatile.

It can be used individually or stacked as a side table or even grouped with others to form a coffee table. And in three bold hues, it gives you the opportunity to throw an unexpected pop of color where you might not necessarily already have it.

The Eames Wire Base Low Table is only available until March 31, 2013 (or until supplies last)!

Goodbye Herman Miller Select 2011

February 6, 2012 · Posted in Great gift ideas, Herman Miller · Comment

It’s been nearly six months since Herman Miller announced that the Nelson Tray and Nelson Tray Table were the 2011 offerings as part of the Herman Miller Select program.

“The Select 2011 Edition is an inventive riff on Nelson’s bold clock face. The exquisite inlay pattern is created by juxtaposing walnut and santos palisander veneers in diamond shapes against a background of white ash.”

Limited in numbers, the Nelson Tray Table and Tray are a type of collector’s item. Both beautiful and functional these pieces are meant to be enjoyed and used.

If you weren’t able to buy yours then you may still have a chance, at least with the Nelson Tray Table.

We’re selling our floor model of the Nelson Tray Table and as soon as that’s gone, that’s it…end of the 2011 Select story.

So stop by today to check out this piece of art and design and possibly take it home with you!

December 6, 2011 · Posted in Great gift ideas, Places to go in DC, Vastu News · 1 Comment

If you’re anything like me you haven’t even started your holiday shopping and probably are just now starting to think about it. As long as you don’t put it off until the day before (like I did last year), you should be okay.

If you are looking now, however, we just got a new product in that would make a great gift. Straight out of Edmonton, Alberta Canada come the Log Bowls!

From the Loyal Loot Collective:

“Log Bowls combine the incomparable beauty of trees in their natural state with a high-gloss vibrant finish. Each bowl is handmade using only locally reclaimed trees of all varieties (fallen or cut down due to infrastructure, re-landscaping, droughts, or stormy weather). The trees are hand selected, gathered, turned and finished by Loyal Loot Collective and local crafts people.  Log Bowls come in a large variety of colors and are completed by hand with a water-based, furniture grade finish.”

They come in various diameters, heights and colors and start at $125. Stop by Vastu and check ‘em out!
