<p>The article Hollywood Glamour, by Scott Sowers, showcases the Victorian-era townhouse in Logan Circle that Eric updated with Vastu&#8217;s collection of &#8220;warm modern&#8221; pieces to match how &#8220;the couple wanted to combine the home&#8217;s old world charm with the modern  lifestyle of its new owners&#8221;.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a great article and the photos by Timothy Bell are gorgeous!</p>

<p>The plan is to take the existing house, a split-level that has not been modified since it was built in 1960 (including the interior finishes), and convert the structure into a modern design.</p>
<p>The renovation will add a 3-level glass tower to the rear corner.  This tower along with changes being done to all rooflines will be done to provide great views of both the water and tree canopy. The plan for the interior interior space is to create a floor plan that generates an open flow, while maintaining individual areas on each of the five levels.</p>
<p>We will continue to check in on progress of The Lake Barcroft Project. Estimated completion date is early 2010. Can&#8217;t wait to see the final product. Stay tuned!!</p>

<p>&#8230;change the hardware!  Kitchen, bathroom or any storage item can get a great face lift by simply changing out the knobs or drawer pulls.</p>
<p>Visit your local hardware store and see what they have in terms of drawer pulls, cabinet knobs, etc.  Also check places like a second-hand store, <a href="http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/category.jsp?_DARGS=/anthro/catalog/common/highlited_itemcount.jsp_A&amp;_DAV=true&amp;_dynSessConf=-7738790050768131428&amp;viewAllOnOnePage=yes&amp;itemCount=-1&amp;pushId=HOME-HARDWARE&amp;selectedProductSize=&amp;startValue=1&amp;id=HOME-HARDWARE&amp;selectedProductColor=&amp;defaultSort=&amp;navCount=5&amp;templateType=&amp;navAction=top&amp;displayNumber=8&amp;selectedProductSize1=&amp;sortby=&amp;prepushId=&amp;popId=HOME" target="_blank">Anthropologie</a> or <a href="http://www.etsy.com" target="_blank">Etsy</a>.</p>
<p>Check out these before &amp; after projects that involve changing out furniture hardware.  Both projects are from <a href="http://www.designspongeonline.com/category/before-and-after" target="_blank">Design*Sponge</a><a href="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/bored-with-your-room-dresser-before-and-after-1.jpg"></a> (a most fantastic design blog!)&#8230;</p>

<p>Well, all the new pieces arrived, deliveries have been made, and after shots of the Chevy Chase project have been taken!  Here&#8217;s a look and the finished product&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/warren-foley-floor-plan.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1136" title="warren-foley-floor-plan" src="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/warren-foley-floor-plan-300x218.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="218" /></a></p>

<p><span id="more-1668"></span></p>
<p>The entertainment area, which includes the owner&#8217;s existing coffee table and rug.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/picture-105.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1675" title="picture-105" src="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/picture-105-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/pictures-011.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1672" title="pictures-011" src="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/pictures-011-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>A close up of one of the owners&#8217; existing chairs that was reupholstered to go with the new space.  To see the chair before the update, click <a href="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/image12.jpg" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/picture-091.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1671" title="picture-091" src="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/picture-091-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>The reading nook featuring the iconic Eero Saarinen Womb Chair, credenza and new window treatments.</p>
<p><a href="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/pictures-004.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1673" title="pictures-004" src="http://blog.vastudc.com/wp-content/dropbox/pictures-004-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a closer look at the Womb Chair.  Vastu designer, Sarita, selected a gorgeous Knoll textile that works very well with the wall color the clients requested stay the same.</p>
<p>This is what the homeowner had to say about their new space:</p>
<blockquote><p>Sarita &#8211; This room is so lovely.  You have a gift and I am delighted to have been on the receiving end of it. Thanks!</p></blockquote>

The Womb chair is the perfect iconic piece for the reading area, while a Florence Knoll inspired Bonn sofa offers plenty of seating options in the entertainment area.</p>

<div class="mceTemp mceIEcenter" style="text-align: left;">Flanked by Oly side tables, the clean lines of the sofa give the room a &#8220;classic modern&#8221; look. The client&#8217;s existing art deco chair was reupholstered in a Luna textile and the windows are adorned with yards of luxurious Knoll fabric. The textiles suggested are all commercial grade which makes them pet friendly &#8211; a relief for the homeowners. Here&#8217;s a look at the design board Sarita put together for her clients&#8230;</div>
