In this post, we’ll show you how Eric Kole, Vastu co-owner, transformed the kitchen, living room, guest bedrooms and bathroom from dark, crowded and outdated spaces into luxurious, spacious rooms befitting a swanky Palm Springs abode.

New paint on the walls and flooring, a thoughtful collection of furniture and whole lot less clutter really cleaned up those bedrooms, and there’s still more to come! Next time, I’ll be revealing the media room, the master bedroom and bath and the fantastic outdoor living areas.

Do you have a space that needs Eric’s personal design touch? Then consider taking advantage of Vastu’s Design Services.

Before & After: Poolside in Palm Springs (Part 1)

Vastu co-owner Eric Kole recently bought and remodeled a property in Palm Springs, California and the before and after images are like night and day!

Before Eric took over the home it was crowded, extremely dark and didn’t have a clear personality or sense of style. Actually, it did have a personality: dark, kind of depressing and dumpy. The interior and exterior of the home did not fit with the swanky feel of Palm Springs. I mean, this house is next door to Frank Sinatra’s house! It should be spectacular.

Check out the first set of photos below to see how Eric achieved it!

The 14th Street of Yesteryear

March 22, 2012 · Posted in Before and After, Places to go in DC · 2 Comments

We talk a lot about how much 14th Street is changing these days. How can you not? You can’t walk a single block without seeing some sort of new construction, renovation or demolition. It’s amazing to think about how different our lovely corridor looked a couple of years ago.

Know what’s even more amazing? Actually seeing how different parts of 14th Street looked in the early to mid-1900s.

The Ruined Capitol, a blog from Jacobsen Architecture LLC…

“is a photo reserve dedicated to the comparison of architecture, culture and society in Washington, D.C. that have been destroyed, replaced or miraculously preserved during the great architectural purge of the Federal City from 1930 to the 1990s.”

On it, you can see archived photos from the past and compare them to recent photos and Google Maps Street Views. Here are just a few you might recognize from the street we call home…

Vastu and Chesapeake Home + Living

Just a heads up to all you Design Clique readers to keep a look out for the next issue of Chesapeake Home + Living magazine for a feature story on the Corcoran Street Rowhouse designed by our very own Eric Kole.

The article Hollywood Glamour, by Scott Sowers, showcases the Victorian-era townhouse in Logan Circle that Eric updated with Vastu’s collection of “warm modern” pieces to match how “the couple wanted to combine the home’s old world charm with the modern  lifestyle of its new owners”.

It’s a great article and the photos by Timothy Bell are gorgeous!
