How Do You Vastu?
This How Do You Vastu? Entry was sent in by Misty Gray, a BFA candidate for Interior Design at GWU. She is also a student of the NEWH (the Hospitality Industry Network) and a student at the Art Institute of Design. Misty’s design scheme is beautifully put together and portrays a sense of mid century design. The way she juxtaposed the organic shape of Vastu’s Harmony sofa against the geometric shape of the Lexington bookcase and Rodin & Pau coffee table is very effective and creates an aesthetically pleasing space. Thank you Misty for showing us How You Vastu!
Flickr finds: Jade and chocolate
Inspired by some gorgeous shots of a jade and chocolate office space featured on Delight by Design, we decided to do a round-up of interior design projects with a similar color palette.
How to revitalize an unused fireplace
Revitalize an unused fireplace by placing the Scope 700 into your existing fireplace and experience the transformation of your room into a cozy and comfortable sanctuary.
The Scope 700 is an easy solution that creates a warm, dancing flame. Fueled by clean burning bio ethanol, the Scope 700 has no need for a vent or gas connection, and does not emit smoke or soot.
The award-winning EcoSmart Fire collection offers over 30 fireplace solutions.

“I am buying a new house on the water. I want to make it warm but I need to use my old furniture that is black and red leather, black and red carpet, and also a glass coffee table. How do I combine it with my dream of a warm, light and woody living room?”
Ray says…
Hello! Congratulations on your new home! In order to achieve a warm, light, woody living room, I would consider introducing some Asian-inspired motifs. Silk embroidered pillows, wall hangings with black script, roughly hewn wooden bowls and vase – think Shanghai in the 1920′s. Read more
Places to go | Folks to know – DC

Do you enjoy good food? What about great service? Then you should try Ripple in Cleveland Park. The menu features seasonal ingredients from local sources, over 50 wines by the glass starting at $6 a glass, and over 50 wines by the bottle starting at $50 per bottle. The restaurant has become a favorite with the Vastu staff and a few of our clients. We loved the lobster ravioli and the potato leek soup. YUM!
To keep up with what’s happening at Ripple, you can follow them on Twitter or join them on Facebook.
Pets on (really great) furniture
