Artist Statement: Allen Levy

Distant Forest

Showing his artwork for the first time in the Washington, D.C. region, Vastu is featuring works from Allen Levy until mid April. Soothing, tranquil, and dream-like with a contemporary feel often describe his style. At first glance, they appear calm and harmonious but upon closer review, is a complex story.

“I love to work with the horizontal plain. Originally from the Midwest, I grew up where the land was very flat thus the source of my inspiration. To create “Distant Forest”, I applied multiple layers of paint to create depth and texture and continually mixed the various colors to develop a composition that is truly unique. Using an earth-tone color scheme, the result is a painting that is both dynamic and peaceful at the same time.” – Allen Levy
