Let’s shag!
Shag rugs are not a fad of yesteryear. Modern twists on the shag rug made their way onto the design scene a couple years ago and seem to be here to stay!
A number of retailers are now carrying shag rugs in bold colors, made of various materials, and with varying pile heights. These modern interpretations can be used in living rooms, bedrooms and even dining rooms.
Do you love the idea of a shag rug, but you’re concerned it will date your room? The key is to mix in furniture pieces from a different era by placing more modern or transitional pieces with your shag to keep your room from looking like a 1970s TV show set.
For details on the shag rug shown above (a Vastu customer favorite) click here. We also have the ability to do shag rugs in different piles, coil thicknesses and hundreds of colors. Stop by the store or call to learn more about your options.

Thanks to Annie Elliott, I have a green shag rug in my bedroom. I’ve got mid century furniture, but I got all white bedding and a gallery wall of funky art I’ve accumulated over the years to keep it (I hope) from looking dated. I like it anyway. Maybe even enough to invest in a better quality rug!

Your space sounds great and I’m sure doesn’t look dated. All white bedding is very modern, and your art collection is personal and timeless. Plus, how can you go wrong with guidance from Annie?!?!
