Keepin’ it kid friendly: Coffee tables

Vastu designers are often asked about how to make a child friendly coffee table choice.  Some clients have tiny tots, or little ones on the way and they’re concerned about heads bumping into sharp corners.  Customers with older children are often more  concerned with durability.  Here are a couple coffee table suggestions with kids in mind:

  • Go for an upholstered ottoman.  You can select a durable upholstery, which makes it great for older kids to through their feet up on, and safe for new walkers and toddlers.  A piece like the Lowell ottoman shown above gives you the flexibility to choose any textile and any size.
  • Look for round edges.  If an upholstered surface is really not your thing, you can certainly minimize danger a bit by selecting a table without corners.  The Martini cocktail table is a good example of a simple, clean line, round option.
