Hello!
No picture or video from me - just a question for you. I saw the question about paint and a baby’s room a couple weeks ago, so I thought I’d ask you a paint question about a little girl’s room. I am in the process of re-doing my 7 year old daughter’s room and she really wants her room to be painted pink. I want her to be happy, but I’m not a big fan of big pink. Could you recommend a pink paint color that isn’t too “bubble gum” or “Pepto Bismol”? Something youthful, but not so bright and fun that in a couple years she won’t like it…
Thanks so much!
What do you think?

Try to convince your daughter to do only one wall pink (choose the pinkest if pinks and she’ll be on board). Accent walls are a great way to bring drama to a room. The remaining walls can be painted a neutral tone and the accent wall color can change easily as she grows. She’ll get the pink she wants and you’ll have the versatility you want.

Of course everything’s prettier in pink when your 7 years old! I don’t believe “bubble gum” pink, or “Pepto Bismol “pink are the only shades of pink that would gain Barbie’s approval. Powdery pinks and lighter shades of mauve are other options that will best allow your daughter to evolve from a little girl into a blossoming young lady.
The shade of pink that you choose should most likely depend of your daughter’s personality. If she’s a very playful, girly-girl I would recommend powdery pinks, like the Benjamin Moore color “Key Pearl”. On the other hand, lighter shades of mauve, such as Benjamin Moore’s “Petunia Pink” might be the way to go if your daughter is a little more of a sophisticated and mature 7 year old. Lastly, I would recommend painting a small section on her wall with a few of your selected color options. Live with these small painted areas for about a week or so before painting the room in its entirety. This method will better confirm both you and your daughter’s final decision. Good luck and happy painting!
