Shelving serves a great function, but don’t be afraid to choose a shelf that expresses your personal style.

If simple, clean-lines are your taste, go for a more traditional shelving unit. Be sure to place a few items on the shelves that reflect a little bit about you – like photos or items you’ve collected during your travels.

If you prefer something a little more unexpected, go for shelving made out of interesting materials, finished in a bold color or a configuration other than a series of shelves running parallel to one another.

Or you could go the wall-mounted shelving route. It’s a great space saver, especially for small spaces. Wall-mounted provides all the function of a typical shelf or bookcase, but without the large footprint. There are tons of options out there.
