Jamie says…
Who is Jamie and why should you care about what she has to say? Jamie is an interior designer at Vastu. Once a month we will check in with a Vastu designer to hear their thoughts on design, trends, tips, etc. So, Jamie says…
Our new neighbors!
For weeks we’ve been peeking at the signs in the door, listening to the drilling, sanding and hammering wondering when the project next door to us would be complete.
Well, according to Going Out Guru, Tom Sietsema, it’s now official – our next door neighbors plan to open the doors to their 5,000 square foot Latin-Asian establishment in September. They’re calling their fusion destination “Masa 14″.
Chef Kaz Okochi of Kaz Sushi Bistro and Richard Sandoval of Zengo wanted to open a new destination to drink and dine in the neighborhood. The two business partners plan to meet in Washington in the near future to discuss the menu and chef for this project.
Masa 14 will feature reasonably priced small plates ($7-$14) and specialty cocktails. It will include a 40-seat bar (but no counter for sushi) and what Chef Okochi describes as a “sleek” interior with wood, stone and brick finishes.
Restaurant location 1825 14th St, NW | Washington, DC 20009
We’re counting down the days!

New to the showroom: The Georgetown
We have a feeling Goldie Locks would love the Georgetown sofa. It’s not too high, not too low. Not too fancy, not too simple. Not too hard, no too soft. The Georgetown is just right…
Dr. Monte Harris and his new space
Vastu had the pleasure of working with Dr. Monte O. Harris on his new facial plastic surgery facility in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Harris is a design enthusiast who believes that the ambiance of a clinical setting should contribute to the patient’s overall sense of well being and serenity. He wanted his new space to be comfortable, fresh, timeless yet modern. We are happy to say that Dr. Harris was pleased with the outcome. We helped him achieve the desired look by choosing pieces with simple lines and organic shapes.
Here’s a look at the space…

New art exhibition: Now thru August 3
Vastu is excited to welcome two artists from the Northeast for our current exhibition.
(yellow/blue)
Vastu’s art director, Brian Petro, is back for another show. Brian’s new work is inspired by a homeless man he saw when he was 9 hauling trash by hand, his father who taught him carpentry and other hands-on life skills, and his grandfather who had a dirt floor workshop in a house that he built himself. Brian uses the many lessons learned over his years to use cast-off materials to show beauty in objects that most people hope go directly into a landfill.

Places to go | Folks to know – NYC Edition
To finish off New York week on Design Clique, here are a few of new designer, Krissy Stecyk’s, favorite places to go in New York City.
The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park. One of the most picturesque places that I’ve found in NYC is the run/walk trail around the reservoir in Central Park. I love getting up early to take a brisk, invigorating walk around the reservoir. The views of Manhattan are captivating while nature abounds. It is especially beautiful the few weeks in early spring when the cherry blossoms bloom! It is a great way to get some fresh air, some exercise, and to prepare yourself for the day ahead.
