Jason says…

Who is Jason and why should you care about what he has to say?  Jason is a co-owner and interior designer at Vastu.  Once a month we will check in with a Vastu designer to hear their thoughts on design, trends, tips, etc.  So, Jason says…

It’s Springtime again which makes me think of putting away winter clothing and comforters and bringing out the shorts, T-shirts, and lightweight blankets. It’s an annual tradition and for those folks living in urban spaces, it is no easy task. I can hear the collective sigh from people struggling to find more space in their bedrooms and closets. I know that some of you are actually seriously considering those space bags where you can vacuum out the air and store your clothes the way that some supermarkets sell deli ham. Don’t do it! Consider furniture that is multi-functional…literally furniture that can serve more than one function and not take up any more space than is does currently. Storage beds are all the rage. Your bed takes up a lot of real estate and most people give up the space underneath it to dust bunnies. There are now a number of high-quality and aesthetically pleasing storage beds with full extension drawers underneath that provide more storage than a 6-drawer dresser. Put your winter clothes and bed linens in there! Or how about a bench at the foot of your bed that also has hinged-top storage for your laundry?  There are lots of pieces out there that serve dual purposes and provide great storage solutions.
