Inside the White House
We were pleasantly surprised by the announcement of Michael Smith as interior designer for the White House last week. Of all the names being thrown around as possible candidates (Nate Berkus or Darryl Carter) we didn’t hear much about Smith until late in the game. Known for balancing classic with modern, he seems to be a good fit for the White House private residences. Below are a few images of Smith’s work that you can find on his website. Congratulations Michael Smith!
The selection of the designer got our team thinking about who they would have selected to decorate rooms in the most famous home in the US. A few Vastu designers were hoping for Nate Burkus – he’s a Chicago native who has mastered the transitional style. His work is sophisticated a modern without being “stuffy”. Another designer would have liked to see the modern work of Shelton Mindel Associates. And yet another designer loves the work of up and coming designer Eddie Ross from reality TV show, Top Design.
Who would you have selected to design the private residences?
