From our gallery director…
Now through mid-March, Vastu will be showing the works of two very intriguing artists – Rose Minetti and Don Griffin. Both artists present a rough, real style and each works on canvas and paper. Vastu has repeatedly featured refined and expressive works from artists across the country, and continues to do so.
In their own words, the artists offer brief statements of their presented work:
Rose Minetti - ”‘Signs and Symbols’ is a series that focuses on the geometric form of circle, square and triangle. Use of these shapes, which can be seen as the basic foundation of design, placed neatly in the grid format offers me endless combinations on the theme. The palette varies between bold, primary color combinations and closely related monochromatic subtleties.”
Don Griffin’s -”…my new work contains basic elements of mixed media applied directly onto a paper surface via paper towels and fingers, without brushes. Various papers are utilized in the creation of the works and the canvas is covered with paper for the “feel” of the media applied. A common thread between all the works are the tracks or ladders which are sometimes subtle and other times predominant. In either case, whatever is visualized represents a journey. To me, the tracks represent a horizontal passage being connected to the earth, while the ladder represents a vertical, Spiritual journey.
For the last four years Vastu has represented artists dedicated to their craft. We invite other national artists to submit images of artworks for review for potential showing opportunities. To submit images for consideration, please send 10 jpegs of recent work, along with a bio, artist statement, and resume to brian.petro at verizon.net for review.
