Painting

Painting a space can be subtle or impactful, can add warmth or coolness, and can even make spaces look larger or smaller. But, choosing paint colors should always be done last when planning your interior design. Choose your seating textiles, floor covering, accent pieces, and even window treatments before choosing paint. There are tens if not hundreds of thousands of paint colors and one or two will certainly work with your design scheme. In terms of a process, you can have your space painted before your furniture arrives, but only after all furniture has been ordered and confirmed (making sure that none of your chosen textiles have been discontinued).

A few helpful hints: If your moldings are standard issue, then consider painting them the same color as your walls but in semi-gloss. If they’re really interesting, then consider painting them a creamy white semi-gloss. If your ceilings are really tall, then think about painting them something other than white or off-white…perhaps dark gray. Consider pulling an accent color out of a throw pillow or an accessory and painting a wall that accent color. This will add richness and depth.

Finally, go green with your paint. Our friends and neighbors at Logan Hardware feature Mythic Paint which is VOC free and non-toxic.
